Governor Hall pledges funds for wildlife and pollution control
Oklahoma Governor David Hall used the State of the State address to promise about 3.6 million dollars for sanitation in State Parks and wildlife habitat. He cited revenue sharing of 3.4 million from the federal government plus general funds for parks and recreation. Board of Agriculture head Billy Raw Gowdy and Director H. I. Standefer noted plans to cut pollution and expand wildlife habitat, with a five year, 2.5 million dollar annual outlay proposed for public lands affecting about 660,000 acres, to be funded from a new source.

Farm program cuts threaten local ASC operations in Atta
ERNEST THOMPSON reports that Nixon administration cuts in agricultural aid threaten 40 to 50 percent of the local ASC office work. REAP grants for vegetation, terraces and waste disposal would vanish, possibly consolidating counties. FHA and SCS expect lighter immediate impact. Atta’s seven year old building houses ASC, FHA, and SCS with VanMeter noting no emergency designation this year.

Nixon Ends Wage Price Controls in Phase 3 Shift
President Nixon abolished mandatory wage price controls for most sectors, keeping food, health, and a few areas under oversight. The new self administering system aims for voluntary compliance as Congress considers a one year extension of authority. The move ends the Pay Board and Price Commission but preserves the Cost of Living Council, seeking inflation under 2.5 percent by year end 1973. Leaders in industry and labor will guide wage ceilings via a new labor management advisory panel while costs govern price increases and profit margins.
