A hunting party recounts a shot that wounded a bird dog and frightened the horse. The dog vanished after the buggy broke free and the horse dashed into the timber. The riders pursued the wreckage and clues, but the dog’s fate remains unknown. The note satirically suggests reading a book on avoiding arguments while hunting.
Miss Cleo Clark Houghton married James Bayard Emory on January 3 1905 at the Martin residence. Rev T L Rippey officiated and a house warminglunch followed at their East Twelfth Street cottage with many friends and well wishers in attendance. Mrs Emory has led Henley Biles millinery work in Ada and Mr Emory has been a Henley Biles salesman. The News family extends best wishes to the new couple.
Mandy Rogers, a Black man, is jailed in Houston on a jealousy fueled crime. He bound his wife, swung her from a kitchen rafter, gaged her, and branded her with a hot file naming Daniel as retribution. He was later shot by deputies and survived two bullet wounds to his leg.

Muskogee January 8. Alexander P. Richmond president of the Territorial Audit Company was appointed by C W Raymond judge for the Western District Indian Territory to the position of United States Commissioner at Wewoka recently vacated by the resignation of H P Sanford.
The Republican executive committee of Indian Territory met in South McAlester on Monday to choose a successor to the late Cyrus G. Keen. Grant Victor of Astor, I. T. was elected chairman.
An incendiary fire destroyed the Lindsay News office and contents early Tuesday morning. Loss is $2,500 with $50 insured. The plant will be rebuilt at once.
Shawnee Oklahoma reports Carrie Nation arrived with about 2000 fans meeting the Rock Island train. She spoke at Mecloud eight miles west and later lectured at the opera house and First Methodist church. Nation is hosted by cousin Mrs. T J Philpin amid saloon opposition.
Wells Fargo Moving Co begins shifting operations from the Frisco depot to a room near the Harris hotel. Route Agent A H Harrison checks in L W Thompson formerly of Monett Mo to take charge at once. Walt Stewart will be retained in the uptown office.
A Christmas ceremony at the Franks church united George Byrd of Stonewall IT and Willa Keener of Franks IT formerly of Tennessee. Rev Hall officiated as Mendelssohn strain played. Fifty guests dined at the couple’s home and a courtship blessing followed.
Port Arthur capitulated after months of near constant fighting and heavy casualties. Gen Nogi and Gen Stoessel arranged terms of capitulation with a meeting at noon, ending one of history’s most dramatic sieges. The Japanese will take forts and ships, while the Russians may return with parole for some officers, and the cost to Japan was about 100 million dollars.
Three masked robbers attempted to blow the First National Bank at Mannsville. They forced open the emery safe and blew the vault but fled after alarms failed. Several thousand dollars in currency was damaged by explosions. Bloodhounds followed the trail west but the men vanished.
Jefferson Oklahoma January 3. Nathan F Chidester was reported dead and the funeral was arranged and the body placed in a coffin. Just before burial the undertaker opened the lid for a final look and the corpse showed breathing. Physicians declared him out of danger and he is recovering.
Governor Brady recounts Swift Water Bill Gates, a Klondike figure, wooing a Dawson songbird who disliked canned foods. Rival suitors with more wealth threatened the match, so Gates bought all Dawson eggs and ultimatumed, forcing a marriage.
A Chicago party including Jr. H. Baroff Miss Anna Kapin Mr and Mrs S Harris Mr and Mrs Geo McKay Leo Wilson and Miss Grace Holley took a fifteen mile Sunday drive toward Roff. Miss Kapin suggested the route though rough roads caused by seven years of inaction of road commissioners.
Our friend ET Norvell and family came back Tuesday from a trip to his brother and relatives in Charleston Arkansas. He called at the News and handed up the price of three subscriptions.
