Oklahoma City Feb 15 preliminary information charges former governor J C Walton with conversion of public funds grand larceny and interference with a legislative assembly. Dr A E Davenport former state health commissioner and T P Edwards former Oklahoma National Guard major also face five informations for funds conversion. Judge C C Smith had yesterday quashed Walton’s indictments and ordered informations instead.
The Oklahoma House, 54 to 22, rejects an amendment to accept the majority report urging impeachment of State Auditor C. Childers. A later vote upholds censure. A separate bid to dismiss all charges and avoid censure fails 41 to 37, signaling a likely final move to censure rather than impeach.

Frank McDonald 18 was arrested in St Petersburg after his parents Mr and Mrs J M McDonald were found shot in their bed. He claimed amnesia and told conflicting stories including a tale about sisters burned to death in Georgia. The case echoes a past fire at the McDonald home.
In the Oklahoma lower house an effort to halt committee charges reading against state auditor C C Childers failed amid a brawl over whether lawmakers rode with nonspouses. The dispute arose during testimony about a car crash involving Childers and a woman employee, with Tulsa Representative Boyer moving to suspend and others debating scandal perception. No vote was recorded.
London report says the Association of British Chambers of Commerce has written to the premier the foreign secretary and the chancellor urging Britain to press France Italy and other debtors for an on account payment while seeking a fair settlement of all debts.
Attorney General Daugherty reaffirms to President Coolidge his decision to stay in office amid mounting criticism. He met with the president at the White House and dictated a statement from the Justice Department denying charges raised in Senate Wheeler’s remarks about his department.
Carl Neilson leader of Herrin Ku Klux Klan was arrested on 10 counts of larceny tied to recent dry raids in Williamson county. The raids spurred disorders prompting troops to be sent to the area. Constable Caesar Cagle who was killed in the unrest had warrants on the same charges. John Arnsh and another man from Johnson City were arrested. bonds posted for them. Theft of $200 from a seized home also cited.
Five prisoners escaped from the Rogers county jail in Claremore. Archie Pryor, a Kansas convict, led the breakout with four others including W P Arcott Barney Hulsey R J Wilson and Willie Stevens a black man charged with wife and child abandonment. Keys were missing and a wire used to lift them from the jailor’s book. Kansas officers arrived to claim Pryor and return him to Kansas.
The Lions heard a dairy talk covering laws, clean milk dangers, and inspection plans. Dr. M L Lewis warned about impure milk, while Prof John Davis demonstrated butterfat testing. New members were welcomed as committees were announced and two high school concerts were promoted.
Tom Anglin state senate president pro tem withdrew a resolution urging Gov. Trapp to block a Friday night Ku Klux Klan parade after receiving assurances masks will not be worn. Oklahoma Klan leader N. C. Jewett announced a nationwide convention with 810 delegates from 270 Oklahoma klans.
Floyd spent last week visiting rural schools with Prof Herring of the teachers college. Interest in the schools is keen and cooperation is strong. Eight schools have been declared superior model schools including Colbert Picktt Franks Sheep Creek and Van.
The Ada Ku Klux Klan will ride a special train to Oklahoma City next Friday to join state Klans at a meeting. Officials estimate 150 to 200 Ada Klansmen will participate, following a Friday night demonstration at the North Broadway hall where 40 new initiates were reported.
Ada pickle factory owner J. M. Atkinson aims to sign up for 400 to 500 acres of cucumbers but is currently short of that target. He offers 3.50 per 100 pounds for small cucumbers with a 1.50 for larger types, cites seed costs of 60 to 75 cents per acre, and notes frost danger should pass before planting. He recalls a poor previous year due to wet spring and drought, but optimistic about market demand and profitability if more cucumbers are planted.
Oil land leasing has been in frenzy for months with bulk land transactions. County farmers are receiving most funds from oil lease purchases, per Rit Erwin the county clerk. Transactions on major oil holdings have changed hands many times since oil prospects emerged in Pontotot county.
