Hog market hits record highs in Cincinnati hog prices

In Cincinnati on February 15 prices in the city market rose to the highest level since the Civil War. Top grade hogs sold at 9.25 to 9.30 per hundredweight and clear pork reached 25 per barrel, an eight dollar rise from the previous year.

Newport News Virginia February 15 Bound up the coast for Reston the tug Nina reported missing since February 6 was seen at Montauk Point by the whaleback Bay View. Captain Cummings of the Bay View believes the Nina sought shelter in the Delaware breakwater during Sunday’s gale and remained until the weather cleared.

Farallon survivors reach Seattle after Valdez stop

Seventeen crew members of the Farallon arrived in Seattle today after leaving Valdez aboard the steamer. Ninteen survivors were brought in and the passengers chose to remain at Valdez awaiting the next vessel to their original destination. Captain J C Hunter confirmed the crew's safe return.

Stuck Fast in Big Drifts Near Pittsburg

Suburban roads and communities are being dug out of heavy snow drifts. Between Etna and Pittsburgh five cars were stalled in twelve foot drifts with Friday night travelers returning home for Sunday dinners. Passengers were supplied with coffee and lunches by the traction company.
