Oklahoma City Dec 27 The criminal court of appeals ruled Roy Mannon aged 38 a five time convict must die in the electric chair on March 1 for the murder of Jake Skelly 78 of Wezoner. Skelly’s body was found in an abandoned well 35 miles from Wagoner December 17 1988 He had been shot five times The court said Mannon abducted the old feeble man to rob him of a few hundred dollars then shot him and hid the body in the well.
Oklahoma City December 27 Earl Foster a conservation attorney for the corporation counsel filed a brief in the supreme court defending the state gasoline inspection law against unconstitutionality charges in a test suit by Walter Vogel Vinita gasoline dealer Vogel cited for selling inferior fuel demanded a jury trial and sought a writ of prohibition to halt further proceedings Foster contends Vogel not entitled to a jury trial and the commission has jurisdiction The statute imposes a maximum fine of 500 dollars on violators.
Army air pilot James A. Howard was killed when his plane crashed into a hill near Huntsville Alabama today. Overcast skies lowered the ceiling to about 200 feet as the tragedy occurred.

Henry L. Doherty head of Cities Service, died at 69 in Temple University Hospital Philadelphia after battles with bronchial pneumonia and arthritis. Born May 15, 1870 in Columbus, he rose from newsboy to founder of Cities Service in 1910, building an international utility and oil empire with assets over a billion dollars by 1929. He supported Warm Springs Foundation and science as commended by national figures.
