Bremond Texas December 24 An all out manhunt for the surviving brother of a pair of bank robbers at the Bremond State Bank of $12000 reached statewide proportions as officers fear he escaped a central Texas blockade. Francis Marion Hooper 26 formerly of Port Arthur and Berton faced charges of robbery firearms while his brother 2 B Hooper 22 was shot by Sheriff Bob Reever of Franklin Texas after two men staged a bold robbery. More than 47060 women worked in United States banks yesterday.
Oklahoma City reports five of the FBI wanted suspects in a California and Avigone robbery case were captured. Chester G Smith, 18, arrested near Tishomingo after a search by highway patrolman Gillian, Johnston County Sheriff, and FBI agents. Also detained were Jane Summers, 18, Benjy Wittman, 24, Mrs Avene Wittman, 17, and Harold K Woods, 15, at a Hemrgentas farm, with three others held in Okmulgee jail.
OKLAHOMA CITY December 44 The United States department of agriculture reports higher commercial truck crop production in Oklahoma for this year with gains in canta roupe onions and potatoes and larger yields in strawberries watermelons and peppers. Spinach for the fresh market rose slightly while spinach for processing declined compared with last year.
NORTH POLE Dec 24 Santa Claus on his fifth annual good will flight around the world left today. He expected to cross the Canadian border then enter the United States. A broken harness on a reindeer was repaired midflight and the voyage continued. He praised the clear cold weather and noted Dasher at fast pace. He recounted seeing three polar bears diving and urged youngsters to sleep. He dismissed rumors of retiring his reindeer or buying a jet airplane and said the team would be needed for the year ahead. Mrs Claus presented a red nozelier as he boarded the sleigh.
Cleo C. Butler, 20, remains in critical condition at Valley View hospital after a late Tuesday auto crash three miles west of Adam Highway No 14. Trooper Glenn Clark reports Butler, owner of a Jesse grocery, was traveling west at high speed, lost control, and the 1847 Pontice sedan struck a tree after skidding 565 feet off the road. He was driving his father W. D. Butler of Shawnee owned car. destination unknown.
The Ada area faces a low chance of a white Christmas with clouds and mild conditions. Temperatures ranged low across cities, with Gage Guyman Elk City recording night drops, while Tulsa and Guyman hit 45 on Tuesday amid scattered rain in parts of Oklahoma.
