In Seoul the U S Eighth Army reports Chinese Reds are delivering cheesecloth stockings filled with Christmas cards cheap presents and surrender invitations to troops on the war front. The tactic aims to lower morale and pressure surrender.
Freezing rain glazed streets and highways in the area creating a traffic snarl in a metro area of about 900000. Temperature 30 degrees. By noon today 31 Ada residents had entered the annual Christmas Home Lighting contest run by the Chamber of Commerce. Entrants will be judged by wards for prizes totaling 200 dollars with 25 10 and 5 dollars to top finishers and a city title 40 dollar prize for ward winners. An out of town panel will judge on originality attractiveness street visibility and theme with official closing time at 5 pm today. The contest is funded by Oklahoma Gas and Electric and the Ada Auto Dealers Association.
J H Sherrill of Shattuck identified five of fourteen cattle rounded up in a rustling probe. The branded cattle were traced from ear marks. Sherrill loaded the animals and returned home. The Pontotoc county investigation, spanning eight months, led to a 40 year old arrest after an Antlers sale of eight head.

In Jackson Michigan Edward G. Spencer admitted he and his wife Loretta Spencer went out drinking the night before she was found in their driveway, six below zero. Loretta died after being discovered early Wednesday morning with frozen limbs. Spencer was detained after a farmer reported seeing the couple in a snowbound car two miles from their home.
A Marine Corps DC-4 flying 900 miles over the Pacific faced a runaway propeller. Captain Hugh Greely of El Toro, California feathered the prop after two hours, allowing a safe, two hour late landing at Moffett Field. An Air Force B-17 escorted the aircraft from Barber's Point near Honolulu.
