Ada Citizens Seek North Ada Representation in School Board
The Ole Town meeting on December 16 elected Dr. H A Hodges as chairman and J B Shirley as secretary. They urged Ada area residents to back a North Ada candidate for the six person school board, noting North Ada makes up about one third of the town and currently has only one director. Ardmore Loan and Trust Co appoints Sem M Torbett to head Ada branch, moving from First National Bank duties, and Torbett and family will relocate. Mrs. Torbett and children will follow after a new Ada home is ready.

Obscure obituary hoax ends in Oklahoma scandal
Walter Wilson, owner of the Haileyville Headlight Journal, fled Haileyville under an assumed name Ward Waid and published an obituary of himself to deceive his wife in Atlanta. The ruse included a crafted obituary of Ward to gain sympathy, a marked copy sent to Mrs. Ward, and an attempt to block further inquiries.

Comptroller of the Currency reports rapid growth in national banks from March 14 1900 to November 30 1903. Oklahoma saw eighty banks with 2 245 000 in capitalization, most under 50 000 each, while Indian Territory had sixty four such banks totaling 1 665 000. A smaller group of nine Oklahoma banks and thirteen in Indian Territory carried 650 000 and 755 000 respectively. Growth surpassed any U.S. state during the period.
