President Hoover urges Congress to adopt a blanket sales tax, 11 percent federal pay cut, and major federal reorganization to restore confidence. He seeks drastic spending cuts, banking reform, and cautious federal activity only in emergencies, warning against inflation and wide government control.

A revolving fund of 500 000 000 is already available for cooperative aid.

Nettie Houston Bringhurst seventy year old daughter of General Sam Houston died in San Antonio from automobile accident injuries. She was a DRT member and poet who published under Nettie Houston and Nettie Houston Bringhurst. Surviving are a daughter Mrs Bush and granddaughter Margaret Bush. Her brother Col Andrew Jackson Houston resides in LaPorte.
Dr. Edward S. Mead of the University of Pennsylvania outlined Roosevelt’s voluntary allotment plan for farm relief. He said it would restore prices to near 1929 levels, fund farmers via a consumer tax paid by flour millers and packers, and pay cooperators 40 cents per bushel plus higher market prices to reduce wheat acreage and breeding stock.

Dr. Joseph W. Moffett, 64, noted Oklahoma physician and landowner, died in Oklahoma City. He will be buried Wednesday in Harper, Kansas. Survived by two sisters in Kansas City. Moffett practiced medicine in Ardmore for a decade before moving to Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma City December 7 L. Cook of Atoka named by Gov Murray as special supreme court justice for the suit by Hutch A. Ledbetter of Ardmore seeking reinstatement to the Oklahoma bar. Justice J W Clark is disqualified. Ledbetter was disbarred years ago after testimony in the O O Owens contempt case.
General Chiang Kai-shek, head of the Nanking government, ordered a general shot after defeat of his troops. The policy emphasizes stern discipline to revive the army and is described as the general’s familiar tactic of action and consequence.
