President Roosevelt instructed General Funston to send regular troops from San Francisco to Goldfield Nevada to restore order after a governor requested federal aid. Governor Sparks said two companies would leave the Presidio, potentially placing Goldfield under martial law as mine owners' actions and radical threats raise tensions in nearby Tonopah. Troops aim to protect mines and property and avert further conflict following past strikes.
Washington December 3 A jury found Mrs Annie M Bradley not guilty of murdering former Utah Senator Arthur M Brown at a hotel in this city on December 8 last. The packed court applauded as the verdict was read after three weeks of national attention. Foreman James L Feeney announced the acquittal with the jury nearly split before the final ballot.
In St Louis a habeas corpus judge ordered the return of 16 year old Marie Thompson to her Los Angeles parents after gypsy leaders claimed she was sold to them. The mobbed camp near the city faced a riot threat as authorities and Clayton citizens moved in to rescue her.
Guthrie Okla Dec 4 A committee reports in favor of adopting the original bill amid heated Jim Crow edits as the measure faces a 10 o clock calendar slot tomorrow. The house weighs penalties and railcar coach segregation while the corporation commission to publish the order.
