Berlin reports the government expanded its anti Jewish policy with a Reichsgesetzblatt order allowing police to restrict Jews from public appearance or leaving their homes in specified districts. Violations carry fines up to 186 marks or six weeks imprisonment.
Halifax dispatch reports razor slasher attacks spreading from Halifax to Wigan Manchester Brentford and Platt Bridge with victims including Winifred Walsh 18 Marjory Murphy 14 Ivy Smitheman 11 and others. Police doubt a single offender links all cases though descriptions match the Halifax suspect who has cut 13 people in eight days.

Roosevelt outlines anticipated congressional program including record breaking defense measures, tax legislation to restore some corporate profit cuts, re enacted nuisance taxes, and extended social security, AAA financing, and expanded relief. Possible neutrality act changes and railroad rehabilitation funding are discussed.
Plans for a dairy judging and practical demonstration to be held December 2 were announced at the county agent’s office. The afternoon program, on Dr Granger’s farm near Lowelry school, includes dairy feeding judging and demonstrations. Wayne Cinnamon urged 4-H members to attend, following a morning dairy school with John W Boehr presenting feed exhibits and an illustrated lecture for area dairymen.
Mrs Essie Matthews a 37 year old farm wife and her alleged paramour were sentenced to life imprisonment for the drowning of her husband B F Matthews 52. They pleaded guilty to murder and smiled as the district judge pronounced sentence. After arrest they admitted plotting to drown him and instructed their accomplice as he struggled in a shallow slough on the farm. Matthews death was initially reported accidental.
An armed posse led by state and Prince George's police hunted woods for 18 year old Mary Brown after she was said to be abducted by two men in a light delivery truck. Her sister Lucy, 15, escaped and told officers they had just left Notre Dame Academy bus in Washington. Mary is daughter of William Brown, an employee of the federal bureau of printing and engraving.
In Oklahoma City on November 30, Becko the African lion, recently gifted in Mexico City, suffers chi ite canker mouth and Mexican icks. With no local veterinarian skilled in lion dipping, Becko is interned at the Texas border town of Laredo awaiting care and plans for exhibit at the city zoo are uncertain.
In Chicago a surly tavern patron identified as Jacob Wood, an escaped convict from Jefferson City Missouri, shot Detective Edward Lynn after being awakened. Wood was fatally wounded by Detective Thomas Mulvey. four other patrons fled unharmed as police closed in.
Karl A. Drummond, 21, was booked at county jail after federal agents arrested him on a secret grand jury indictment accusing him of espionage. He allegedly photographed and attempted to sell plans for navy aircraft at Douglas Aircraft Northrip plant and stole a confidential pamphlet on bomber construction.
Belfast reports a blast wrecked an Ulster customs house on the Northern-Southern Ireland border. Police search for republican extremists after five similar explosions along the frontier last night. Time bombs failed to detonate in two other customs houses as traffic was halted and fear grew over a new round of violence tied to the Irish Republican Army campaign.
In Bucharest on November 30, Corneliu Zelea Codreanu the 38 year old Romanian fascist leader and 13 fellow prisoners were killed during an attempted escape from Rumanu Sarat prison ten miles from Bucharest. Authorities said they were buried in the prison cemetery and the incident signals a decisive government crackdown on the Iron Guard. Codreanu had been sentenced May 27 to ten years for treason.
The city water department will relocate to basement offices in Convention Hall, announced by J. H. Pryor, commissioner of public works. It has been temporarily housed in Mayor Crawford’s office during construction and will be ready for the first of the month water bill payments at the new site. The old City Hall space was vacated to clear room for remodeling into a modern fire station.
A southbound passenger train struck a school bus at a grade crossing near Luck Wisconsin killing three children and a woman bus driver. Four other youths were critically injured as the bus, a modified truck, appeared to move into the locomotive path. The train dragged the bus about a hundred yards before stopping. The dead and injured were placed on the train and later moved to Frederick Wisconsin, where the injured were taken to Frederick hospital.
In New York on November 30, Erich Glaser, 28, a German-born former U S Army Air Corps private, was convicted by a federal court jury of conspiracy to steal American military secrets with a clemency recommendation. The same jury convicted two other German spies without recommendation. Also facing up to 20 years are Johanna Hofmann, 26, a hairdresser on the German liner Europa, and Otto Hermann Voss, 39, a former airplane mechanic.
Labor disorders erupted in several French cities as Premier Daladier crushed a nationwide general strike with threats of armed force and martial law. In Toulouse officers and the mayor were injured, stores and cars vandalized, and troops restored order. In Clermont Ferrand strikers clashed with police as troops guarded the city. Paris workers resumed posts under military guard as the strike faltered. The government faces criticism over a potential Franco German accord and continued tensions in Tunisia amid fascist protests in Italy.
Frederick Olgla Nov 30 WPA hero award sought for 10 year old Joe Franklin Rogers who rescued his brother John Wesley and baby sister Caroline June from a blazing farm home. Joe awoke to smoke and after his brother failed to exit he returned through flames with a bucket then led both children outside. John Wesley died the next day in a Clinton hospital.
Two men charged with attempted mutiny aboard the schooner Metha Nelson told police of racial tensions during the voyage and denied threats to Captain R. B. Hoffman. Charles Segal and Abraham Kapeliner, held on bonds, claim Hoffman discriminated against them as Jews. Countess Dorothy Di Frasso and Dr. Benjamin Blank said they observed no mutinous acts.
Mrs. Claudia Braly resigns effective Thursday from her post as county vital statistics registrar and secretary for the City County Health unit. She served 15 months. Miss Phyllis Deffenbaugh will succeed her, Dr. Glenn W. McDonald reports.
The second contamination suit in the current county court term ended with a not guilty verdict on Tuesday. E. H. Moore Incorporated was the defendant. Both cases tried this week yielded acquittals. A moral offense case was underway Wednesday, with several more contamination suits against oil companies operating in the area due to be tried next.
Oklahoma City Capitol Hill High School coach Jim Lockabaugh is recommended for the Oklahoma A and M head football coach job by the athletic cabinet. The state agricultural board will decide, with rivals suggesting C J Powell of Murray Aggies as an alternative.
Robert Eugene Lorton associate publisher of the Tulsa World died at St John’s hospital after an extended illness from a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been kept alive by an iron lung following injuries from a 1934 diving accident near Bartlesville. He died moments before 10 a.m. on his first birthday as a father, with widow Beverly Rogers and his parents at his side.

District Judge Tal Crawford will preside Thursday in Atoka for a hearing on a general election dispute arising from a county race recount. Judge Crawford did not know specifics but noted the case concerns an election dispute. In Bartlesville Cecil G. Lister files a 50169 damage suit in district court against F. E. Rice for injuries from a September automobile collision affecting Mrs. Lister and her parents.
