In Oklahoma, Republicans bank on Nixon coattails aiding GOP rivals while Democrats count on House leaders and long-time incumbents to blunt the effect. The U.S. Senate contest features former Gov. Dewey Bartlett for the Republicans and Rep. Ed Edmondson for the Democrats, as they campaign amid split-ticket voting patterns in the state. The outcome hinges on whether Nixon’s appeal translates into Senate gains, with district-by-district dynamics shaping each race and voting machines in use across counties.
