Ravaging Grassland Fires Threaten County Ranchers

Fall brings hay and grain but also the danger of grass fires in the county. A blaze east of SH 12 on the Jurnor Ranch burned about 1500 acres of grassland, wiping out forage for winter. Firefighting rests on farmers and neighbors. departments help, but many fires are fought by those closest to the flames. Continued on Page Four.

East Central Quarter Horse Sale Set for September Ada

The East Central Quarter Horse Association announces its annual sale for September 30 at Ada fairgrounds, offering 55 animals with top bloodlines. Most horses are mares and fillies, with some stallions included in listings. The Davis Auto Salvage boys baseball team will hold a community supper Friday at 6 p.m. to raise funds for a new field, sponsored by managers Edd Berryman, Joe Isaacs, and players’ mothers. all you can eat chicken and dressing priced at 1.00 for adults and 0 cents for children under 10.

Oakman Guests Attend Church and Revival Scenes

Oakman residents hosted a varied group from Oklahoma City and nearby areas over the weekend. Evangelist Rev Jones returned from an Anders revival and attended a Free Will Baptist assembly near Center Point while also speaking at an 11 am service. Friends from Ada and Camp Ground visited, and several local families shared meals and plane rides after flying lessons. Velma Clark fights a heart ailment in a local clinic, with prayers for recovery as teachers’ workshop in Ablosa wraps up.
