Walsh and Williams Wed in Center Community Ceremony

On last Sunday afternoon at Mrs. Long’s home in Center, James Walsh aged 44 and Miss Minneola Williams age 22 of Denver were married in the presence of many friends. The groom is a merchant with long ties to the area. the bride formerly served as postmaster at Center and is praised for her character and service. The couple will reside in Center and have secured property there.

On the Katy Flyer near Chili station sixty eight miles north of Denison two passengers sprang up and shot Pump Repairer J B McDonald in the back before the assailant turned the gun on himself dying. The attacker had a Kansas City to San Francisco ticket bearing the name Joe Iyer. A lone knife was found on him as the body bore Italian writing and an Oakland California mark.

Double Tragedy: Choctaw Man Kills Then Drowns

In Blue County last Thursday, a Choctaw man rode to a neighbor’s house and questioned for a horse. The neighbor seized an axe and fatally decapitated him, then the killer disappeared, later found by the corpse by flies. He fled to a creek and drowned in two feet of water. Local reports describe the killer as insane.

Deputy Wilkin son under orders from United States Attorney W Johnson and Marshal Colbert retrieved forty six barrels of grape wine from Joe Bastine's cellar in the eastern city area. The whiskey or wine was spilled on the ground. Bastine was recently arrested on a charge of manufacturing.

Ada School Board Adopts Free School Admission Resolution

At a Monday night call meeting on August 25 the Ada school board adopted a rule granting free school admission to all scholastic age pupils who have resided in the district 30 days before schools open. Pupils moving in after 30 days prior to opening pay tuition per the annual catalogue. The Ada district covers lands within the town limits defined by the U.S. government and incorporation articles. School age is 6 to 21 years.
