Gov Haskell accepts the Putnam tract northwest of Oklahoma City for the state capital. The Capitol Development Company guarantees 1.7 million dollars, with 1.5 million to be spent on the capital building. The Capitol commission names Tate Brady Judge J B A Robertson and Dr Leo Bennett. Mrs Carrier, whose six children were committed to Pryor Creek, fled Ada with her brood and was reported by authorities, then returned.
Rain falls over Wallace and Coeur d Alene area lifting the mood as searchers probe for Forest Ranger H F Kottkey and about 200 missing men last seen Friday night fighting fires near Wallace. State troops and militia head to the flames while officials stress uncertain death tolls and difficult communications.

Asphalt cars are shipped to Dallas and other Texas points as well as Oklahoma. The company adds equipment and machinery as the industry expands, backed by Ada's rich asphalt deposit.
The State Labor Federation met in Chickasha Oklahoma on August 23 with M E Bunnell of the Chickasha Bricklayers' union unseated. Thirteen favorable resolutions were adopted including support for woman suffrage and labor unity. J Luther Langston was re elected secretary treasurer amid an ovation and speeches by Senator Colville and ex President Crawford. A delegate banquet followed at University Park as Bartlesville area pushes for the next steps.
Guthrie Oklahoma August 22 During the first ten days of October the second great sale of public lands in Oklahoma will commence probably in Lincoln county About 280000 acres of lands are to be sold including indemnity state institution and common school lands The school and sales department expects heavier and higher bidding than last year Bids will be for 5000 descriptive pamphlets Tuesday by the State Board of Public Affairs and with literature distribution and thirty days advertising the department will begin the sale The sale will start in Lincoln county and move through Oklahoma Payne and Pawnee west through the Cherokee strip and Straight south through every county except Comanche Kiowa and Jackson.
Durant Oklahoma August 24 Bryan Countys great bale of cotton was brought to Durant today. At will beginned and 90d tomorrow. A sum of twenty one dollars was paid.

Guthrie Oklahoma August 23 The last will of William M Cross former secretary of state who died on the eve of his nomination as state auditor has been filed with F A Derr secretary of the Masonic Temple. The will dated May 29 1900 describes property and leaves a general devise to nephews Clarence and Alma Cross of New York. The document follows a Masonic will form and answers typical questions asked by the organization.
Will Market at least 12,000 bales of cotton this season with a 15 cent market favored by indications. Leading cotton brokers have offices established in Hobart and banks expect deposits to rise. The oil mill will hire more men and the compress is nearly rebuilt for business with white product moving by September 15.
Mr and Mrs Mason Retarnea and Mr and Mrs B H Mason were married in this city a few weeks ago according to local society notices.
Mrs. T. P. Gore wife of United States Senator Gore returned to Lawton Oklahoma from Sulphur where she had joined her husband during bribery charges probe. She will stay until mid September while the senator resumes lectures in Paola Kansas and plans a Labor Day speech before resting at home.
In Muskogee Oklahoma Charlie Crammer 35 consumed carbolic acid after losing all earnings in a gambling joint. He bought the poison at a drug store then returned home with his 12 year old son Hugh present. The couple had moved from Arkansas and left with 23 dollars of his money and 15 his wife earned. He died shortly after at Muskogee hospital.
E. Fowler prepares to remodel his drug store starting within a few days. The improvements include a new soda fountain and concrete floor making the store one of the finest in the city.
Robert G. Valentine, Commissioner of Indian Affairs, met in Beverly to hand President Taft a plan to end civil agents handling Indian claims. The plan shifts proof of claims to government employees to protect Indians from excessive fees, amid Gore hearing disclosures.
Miss Oracle List and Miss Olive Adair depart Tulsa under Commercial Club sponsorship with passports to ensure hearings in American colonies. They head to Kansas City then Denver and major cities toward the coast, then to San Francisco for a voyage to Honolulu and on to South America and beyond over three years.
