The land, condemned for railroad use but never developed, reverts to the city to clear title and enable arrangements with nearby businesses using portions now held. The original condemnation occurred in the federal court of the southern district of Indian Territory under a law permitting railroad development.

Marry Vaughan pressed him at social events to prepare memorandums naming officers eligible for Waitt’s job as chief of the Army Coral. Vaughan, Truman aide, allegedly sought his personal opinion on selections while Waitt acknowledged drafting a flattering memorandum about himself. He testified of dictating another memo to the secretary of James Hunt, a Washington management counselor, and described Hunt as a key figure in the inquiry. Waitt admitted a third-party memo praised him in the third person, written for Vaughan to present to President Truman. He laughed off the embarrassing self-portrayal and recalled being called a cannibal by Pravda. He appeared in uniform with decorations as probes into “five percenters” continued, with suspensions of Gray and Feldman prompting further investigation. Hunt claimed credit for Waitt’s appointment as chemical shiek El Evans and Hunt had discussed influential social ties at a recent party.
