Oklahoma City August 4. P H L McCracken Oklahoma tax commissioner and close friend of Gov Marland died in a hospital after a two months illness at age 56. He rose to prominence as Oklahoma tax czar after the sixteenth legislature made him independent of the governor and the legislature and removable only by the courts for cause. The governor announced plans for the body to lie in state at the capitol Friday noon to 2 pm. Funeral arrangements were not complete.
