People's Co op Announces Bigger And Better Expansion

Fire damages Bourland home in Allen
Fire damaged the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bourland in Allen late Saturday afternoon while they were away in Oklahoma City. Defective wiring is believed to have started the blaze. Holdenville Fire Department assisted Allen firefighters. Upstairs suffered fire damage and the first floor suffered water damage. The house, built in 1919 by Wilf Pegg, sustained the losses.

Boys Bid Calves With Points At Brookville Sale
Two Pontotoc County youths James Hampton and Ronald Mitchusson won Hereford steer calves at a Brookville Kansas auction using Gooch's feed points instead of money. The fourth annual sale, run by Gooch's, featured 122 animals and buyers ages 7 to 20. Each bidder purchased independently with coaching disabled, while 4-H guidance and livestock judging tips were provided. Both boys plan to show their calves at the county fair in September. Mitchusson, 10, paid 4750 points. Hampton, 14, used 4800 points. They expect to bid again next year.
