An experienced officer reports a drop in crime in the southern district despite district attorney figures showing more indictments. Hon C E Foley will serve as commissioner from Indian Territory on the congressional floor next winter. Sulphur residents are urged to attend Dr. Steel’s lecture Tomorrow titled Home Life in Dixie During the War. The noted southern educator may seek Ada ties and establish a college there. Mrs. Nater also returns Tuesday with a lecture on Hatghetation Agitation and Saloonation.
George W. Scott secretary of the Separate statehood convention committee wired 4H Muprray urging Chickasha recording districts to organize and elect delegates and alternates if Gov Johnson fails to act, to be seated by the constitutional convention on the 1st inst.
Saturday night Mrs. M. G. Meadows State Deputy for Oklahoma and Indian Territory organized a Grove of the Woodmen Circle at Konawa with 20 charter members. Officers elected include Leila Lutts guardian and Ollie Johnson advisor. The camp planned a hall and escorted Deputy Meadows to the train.
E H Hale and G A Penick of the Tahlequah land office have received telegraphic offers to join the Panama canal service at $1 500 per year with free housing and transportation from New Orleans. Hale has declined. Penick plans to accept.
In Madill I T Prof Baze an aeronaut and tight rope performer ignited gasoline soaked clothes and leaped from a broken trapeze during a two day picnic. He fell twenty feet to iron awning then ten feet to the ground and was taken to a doctor in critical condition with expected death. He previously lived in Ada and worked with Ada Machine Co.
Guthrie Oklahoma Aug 2 The board of regents of the University of Oklahoma at Norman announces the selection of Prof James D Barnett formerly of the University of Wisconsin to take the chair of political science Miss Lillian G Robinson a graduate of the University of Chicago has been employed as instructor of modern languages
A special election in Oklahoma City on August 2 voted on 30000 dollars in bonds for a county jail and courthouse fixtures. Preliminary returns show a majority in the city around fifty, with final county and precinct tallies due Friday.
Dublin Texas July 29 05 Rev T L Rippey reports Dr S Steele favors Ada for locating a new training school. Steele says the project would boost Ada population and establish a leading southwest college with Steele as head. He urges action and public support now.
Members led by President Tom Chambless discussed Ada college aid and a donation offer of 50.00, with Rev. Jno A Williams and others urging the project. Committees to solicit funds and a promoter addressed the group, pledging service and awaiting further action.
The Cherokee Nation board of equalization elected male and female seminary teachers for the coming year. Bank of Boynton filed articles of incorporation with $30,000 capital stock, $15,000 subscribed. Miller Bros at 100 ranch received a $400 loving cup from Millers' National Federation for entertainment on June 11. Seminole Investment Company secures eighty acres at Sasak Wa for town lots, Sasakwa on the Frisco is the only Seminole town with titled lots outside Wewoka.
Fire at the Sherman Ice company's plant in Sherman Texas began around 2 o clock this morning and swept the boiler and engine rooms causing a total loss of those areas and threatening about $90,000 in property. Firemen battled the blaze but figures were unobtainable.
The 11 weeks old infant of Mr and Mrs M W Litzman was born on Sunday July 30 1905. Funeral services were conducted at the tabernacle and the interment followed in the City Cemetery.
Land Office at Wewoka will open on September 4 to allot land to Seminole babies admitted by Congress. The initiative follows enrollment and rolls approved by the department, promising a rush similar to the original Seminole Land Office opening.

Ben Boss was shot and killed at Ego I T on Saturday evening about 5 o'clock. The assailant remains at large.
George Harrison speaks of his trip from Louisiana amid yellow fever quarantines. He recounts evading a health check, landing back in Ada, and reaching a next rail station after a long rural trek. The letter notes rain harming cotton, decent corn, recent church meetings, and a fond Ada reunion with praise for the town.
Farmers offered a free wagon greasing service in Ada on Saturday August 5th. Waters Pierce Oil Co and salesman W. T. Martin will grease wagons and give one box of axle grease free.
