Amsterdam July 31 Field Marshal Von Eichhorn German commander in Ukraine and his adjutant were seriously wounded by a bomb in Kiev Tuesday. A later Kiev message said both died last night. Telegrams declare the crime originated with social revolutionists in Moscow. The alleged assassin is a 23 year old from Ryazan Province with orders from the communist committee.
Oklahoma City July 31 The Council of Defense urges women to train as nurses to free trained staff for overseas duty. Recruiting stations opened statewide on July 29 under the Woman's Committee, continuing until August 11. Pontotoc County quota set at six.
German efforts to advance against American forces last night and this forenoon failed. Americans held positions as the German line steadily yielded to both flanks. Night fighting was intense but without mass assaults. Americans pretended to evacuate Seringes and then surrounded and captured the German force. Air combat was active on both sides this morning.
