Rumor spread that OShaughnessy was killed in Mexico City but late dispatches were silent. From Washington on April 22, the state department said Villa would arrive at Juarez to restrain rebels and U S troops until the constitutionalist situation develops.
Washington reports Huerta demands retaliatory gun for gun salute as the salute to the American flag was promised. Officials say Wilson will not concede. Battleships stay in Mexican waters as pressure mounts for a forceful policy toward Huerta and his government. Secretaries Bryan Humpty discuss concessions amid ongoing cabinet talks.
Oklahoma teachers and students conduct seed tests across the state to aid farmers with better seed quality. State Superintendent Wilson distributes scoring sheets, promoting direct educational value and potential year after year improvements in planting practices. Officials cite this as a key effort linking education to community life and breadwinning.
A civil service exam for postmasters of multiple fourth class offices was conducted in Ada. Fourteen applicants, eleven men and three women, sought positions at Allen Asher Francis Franks Vaness and Fitzhugh. A first route carrier exam out of Ada will be held Saturday with service to begin May 1 and a temporary carrier assigned pending results. In Coalgate Jim Bledsoe pleaded guilty to a murder case and was sentenced to die July 2 at McAlester for the headless woman found near Caddo after a wagon trip.
Washington reports rapid progress in Mexico as Admiral Fletcher lands marines to seize Vera Cruz customs and surround the consulate. Mexican commandant Maas resists from roofs, leaving many dead and wounded on both sides. The US plans full occupation while Congress considers a 500000 dollar rescue fund and anxieties rise over Americans left in Mexico City and the interior.
In Washington on April 22 the Senate acted at 3:20 am and the House quickly approved the resolution. Speaker Clark signed it after noon and sent it to the White House. Ayes filled the record as the Senate hesitated briefly and the House moved in a minute.
American marines seized Vera Cruz city hall and now guard key parks. Shelling from the fleet was heavy with many homes destroyed. Marines advanced against resisting Mexicans while sharpshooters fired from roofs. No American casualties. two marines slightly wounded driving out snipers from the naval academy.
Vera Cruz reports say the German steamer Ypiranga, laden with 15,000,000 rounds of ammunition 200 rapid fire guns and 1000 rifles for Huerta, was blocked. Admiral Fletcher acted after Congress failed to act and seized the beach and customs house, keeping the cargo aboard while the ship sits near the Florida awaiting disposition.
In Vera Cruz at 9 a.m. April 22 Major Butler and his Tampico force landed. The Florida Utah Arkansas Vermont New Hampshire South Carolina and Prairie batteries fire effectively. Reported Mexican casualties reach about 150. Admiral Badger arrives with the Atlantic fleet.
Washington reports 3000 U S marines advancing into Vera Cruz in extended formation driving Mexican sharp shooters before them. The city expected to be cleared by noon as the customs house fire burned briefly but was extinguished.
Vera Cruz on April 22 at 4 30 p m marines oversee 300 Mexican prisoners of war taken during the bombardment. The prisoners, mostly sharp shooters, are being moved to the water front and placed aboard battleships for safekeeping.
Rumor from Washington reports the army board pressing President Wilson to revoke the order allowing shipments of guns to constitutionalists. It is said one shipment has already been held up.

W A Frazer sovereign commander of the Woodmen of the World sent a telegram to Senator Morris Sheppard stating a number of regiments are ready near the Texas border. The units are fully organized and drilled for service against Mexico and requested first duty across the border if invasion occurs.

An 19th century ad touts Simmons Liver Purifier in yellow tin boxes claiming effective relief from constipation and biliousness. The copy asserts the product is pleasant and powers its action, urging trials and stating it is available from all druggists.
Tulsa Oklahoma April 16 officials called off the race meeting after martial law was declared at the track by Governor Cruce. The action halted events and postponed competition amid emergency measures in place at the venue.
The Daily Ardmore Presbytery convened at a one hundred twenty line Presbyterian church with 50 delegates. Rev A J French retired as moderator and Rev J T Young of Tishomingo elected moderator by acclamation. Miss Pauline Keller sang a solo with a large choir and Miss Keller led the music. Attending ministers led morning and evening services while Rev R W Oakes of Davis was named delegate to the General Assembly in Chicago. Judge Barney Ada and Rev Dr Huston Centraloma spoke on temperance and law enforcement.
T. O. Cullins reports Greenville Michigan Boy Scouts and Ada Scouts received a shipment of 2,500 walnut trees to be given away to anyone who promises to plant them. Interested parties should notify Mr. Cullins immediately.
Reported in Ludlow Colorado the 14 hour clash between militia and coal mine strikers leaves up to fifty dead mainly women and children at the burnt tent colony. Bodies of children and women found. A Denver Express staffer is deported and a militia hold up of a newspaper train is reported. Five mine guards killed at Delagua. Clash seen as outgrowth of Ludlow fighting with new confrontation feared.

The Woodmen of the World of Pontotoc county announce a log rolling at Ada on Saturday May 16 at 7 30 p m. The event aims to unify the order and boost enthusiasm with delegates from every county camp. State Manager Forgan Assistant Manager Edwards and District Manager Prait will attend.
Miss Norma Johnson of the Domestic Science Department at A M College will speak on Bread and Breadmaking at the rally this Saturday. All ladies and girls are urged to attend at 1 p m. to hear her.
