A 12 member jury was nearly completed in the Homer Ellison murder trial, with the first witness expected to testify by mid morning. The prosecution had one challenge left and the defense two as Judge Tal Crawford recessed until 9 oclock, leaving a venire of 50 exhausted by 5 oclock yesterday afternoon.
Sheriff Kaiser and Court Clerk Bradford drew additional jurors for the Ellison case, including Mc Clure, Coley, Phillips, Fletcher, Jones, Moore, Nolen, Bate, and Dandridge. The trial began after a civil docket and a disputed questioning of a prospective juror, with Ellison, 22, accused of firing three shots at Blassingame on North Broadway.
Oklahoma City April 13 Senator Elmer Thomas a renomination candidate says he would be surprised if Governor Marland carried a single county in the July 12 primary. He claims a political machine is at work and notes Marland has 70 years of legislative experience. Six candidates filed Wednesday as the county filing period opened, including incumbents A. W. Oliver W. L. Reed and George E. Toler. New filers were J W Deas for county judge Sebrin E Mapier for constable and Sam Dew for county treasurer.
In Conway Arkansas on April 13 Frank Conely 24 Tulsa and Floyd Boyce 24 Anadarko were convicted and sentenced to 31 years each for kidnapping and robbing Lonnie Hayes a truck driver on March 4 Joel Carson 29 North Little Rock pleaded insanity and was ordered to a state hospital for 15 days. Boyce attempted to escape during transport but surrendered after Ada Police Chief Roy Keller fired over his head Keller testified at the trial and Carson and Boyce were arrested in Ada after Hayes was robbed and left bound to a tree near Clinton 45 miles north of Conway.

Hundreds line Main Street as Ada High School's 114 member band marches in maroon and white for the first public appearance in their new uniforms. Mrs Lowrey Harrell south of the city underwent an emergency appendectomy Wednesday morning at a local clinic. Her condition was reported satisfactory early Wednesday afternoon. Chandler Oklahoma April 13 Pi Ben Terry a 4 year old pedestrian was hit by a truck and killed instantly today on U S highway 66 west of there. Sheriff W EB Gillaspy said the truck driver Travis Aston of Depew sounded his horn and Terry darted in the path of the truck. Washington April 13 The House Indian affairs committee approved today a bill conferring jurisdiction on the United States district court of the eastern district of Oklahoma to determine certain claims of the Seminole Indians.
Marion Larner, 35, a Dill City churchman and town councilman, was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his wife on their 15th wedding anniversary. He pleaded guilty to murder, gave a remorseful statement, and was praised for calm courtroom conduct as about 800 townspeople watched.
Andorra came under strict French military control as Spain’s insurgent army approached. French trucks with snowplow ra diators entered from France to enable reinforcement and the Andorran valley’s commander Rene Baulard assumed extraordinary powers. Gerald W. Steltzlen, 31, a company electrician, died from burns suffered yesterday at a pump station near Chetopah Kansas after being rushed by air from Parsons for treatment in Tulsa. He leaves a widow and two sons. In Richmond Virginia Robert Saunders, a showman, observed that snakes make poor watchdogs.
James M. Swartz, FIELD AGENT HERE HUGO, will go to Ada to become an education field agent for the Indian agency. Swartz had held a similar position here for four years.
Plans for erecting signal lights at Ada's five railroad crossings near completion. Senator Al Nichols told the junior chamber of commerce that an agreement for signals is awaiting final approval. Mayor Bill Crawford promised to seek county excise board funds for street signs in Ada and the chamber's drive reaches 150 of 200 new members as it enters its third week.

Ada police hold two young men as suspects in the holdup of Jack Vandever, a Corner drug store delivery boy. One suspect admitted taking part and signed a confession. Vandever was mugged while delivering change for a five dollar bill and robbed of $4.85 near a vacant lot on a Tuesday night after answering a fake delivery call. One suspect arrested later in the week, the other early Wednesday. County attorney's office questioning completed. charges expected.
Federal Bureau of Investigation agents traced two extortion notes in Minneapolis and St Paul. One threatened to kidnap W. P. Kenney, president of Great Northern railroad, unless $100,000 was paid. The other demanded $25,000 for the abduction of the victim's wife, received by William Figge, head brewmaster at a St Paul brewery.
