Fireworks Plant Blast Kills Twelve in Missouri
In Seinton Missouri an explosion and gunpowder fire at a fireworks plant killed twelve of twenty eight workers and injured three. The blaze trapped employees in a one story frame building as flames spread within minutes. Firemen could not reach some victims in time and many bodies were severely burned. Plant foreman Fred Baker testified workers jammed a small door while escaping. The firm began production last July and the powder amount was estimated at 50 to 100 pounds.
