Abandoned Orphan Found by City Marshal
On Friday a city marshal uncovered two destitute white women with children in an old building. He offered to place the boys in homes or the orphan asylum, and ordered the women to leave or be arrested. One woman returned Tuesday night and left her eight year old son to fend for himself. The marshal took the boy into custody and will place him where he can grow up to a useful life.

A Black man battered his wife in a residence quarrel last Tuesday night. Police arrived after the fight ended to find a second Black woman tending the wounded victim with turpentine. The husband was fined 11.75 dollars after the case proceeded to Mayor Barton. the victim handed him five dollars to help pay the fine.
Good exhibition of fancy rifle shooting in city
Last Wednesday Steve Hicks from Dallas Texas gave a rifle shooting exhibition in the city. He tossed a tin can into the air and punctured it multiple times while falling. Hicks demonstrated rapid fire with a Winchester and a ball cartridge as he plans a world tour.

Frisco No. 12 Passenger Train Derailed Near Weleetka
A northbound Frisco passenger train left the rails and went into a ditch near Weleetka about 11 o'clock yesterday. The engine, mail car and one coach reportedly derailed. Engineer Bill Hughes is said to have a broken leg with other injuries. The wreck blocked the line for several hours, delaying the southbound train expected at 8:20 last night.
