A man identified as Sweatt was arrested on a charge of criminal assault involving a seven year old child of the same race. The assault occurred early last night and he is in jail, reportedly admitting guilt.
Absent council members cause postponement of action on a gas franchise until the first January meeting. The delay stems from the absence of two or three members and a lack of interest in the vital issue.
Jackson Hart, a full-blood Indian, was shot dead by Robert Powers at Powers’ home one mile southeast of town after Hart three times tried to enter. Powers had a preliminary hearing at Tishomingo before Commissioner Stobaugh and was released without bond.
