Laborers and contractors settle wage dispute in Oklahoma
Oklahoma City May 28 The state board of arbitration and conciliation announced an amicable settlement between laborers and 14 contractors ending a strike that began May 10. Wages set at 60 cents an hour for wheelers and plowmen on public works 49 cents for wagoners and shovelers and 178 cents for others. The board will file a formal report tomorrow morning. The strike halted a 125000 water and sewer extension project and a 118000 paying contract. two contractors, 2 Pieler and S D Smedley, resisted the wage raise. The board heard both sides in sessions that began yesterday.
