Battle Hinted Near Boundary Lines in Jack Fork Mountains

In Muskogee Oklahoma on May 5 a deputy marshal and a posse of twenty five men left Hugo at daybreak to pursue moonshiners in the Jack Fork mountains near the Boundary lines of Pashatratahy county. Four stills have been located and may be cut within twenty four hours. George Johnson, an alleged moonshiner arrested recently at Hugo, reportedly confessed implicating the marshal and others. A patrol from Washington has issued instructions and awaits further word.

Wheat Prices Hit New Records in Chicago and Nationwide

May wheat set a record at the Chicago Board of Trade trading around 1.25 to 1.28 per bushel with May and July futures strong amid heavy demand. Cotumings Ohio milling grain reached 1.50 per bushel, the highest in 31 years, while New York markets climbed to 1.35 per bushel. A pool aims to keep July wheat high.

Fort Scott Kans May 5 After Gov William Taylor of Kentucky and one or two other witnesses testified on each side argument began this afternoon in the case of Fred Warren manager of the April to Region a Socialist paper charged with violating postal laws Taylor was called by the prosecution The government asked only a few questions to identify a person referred to as the defendant's offer of a reward for kidnapping the ex governor.

Ardmore Damages Report Found False Alarm

A rumor of Ardmore being nearly destroyed by a recent derination caused alarm in Ada residents with relatives there. The News phoned Ardmore and confirmed reports were positively false, stating only one minor incident occurred and no substantial damage.

Citizens Determined Ada Summer Normal Committee Appointed

A Ada city meeting in the Club rooms outlined a plan to support a summer state normal program. Leaders Pierce Perkins Briles advised cooperation with Muskogee while Ada aims to attract six hundred teachers to the 340,000 high school campus. Senator Roddie acquitted on embezzlement charge

Senator RB M Rotdie of Ada Oklahoma representing the Twenty third district was triumphantly acquitted by Judge Jackson on a charge of embezzling 384 from the Indian State Insurance Company of Indianapolis while acting as its Fort Gibson agent two years ago. The defense showed a receipt signed by the company president and secretary proving full settlement. Rotdie said he would sue the state life insurance company and W H Merchant for 25000 damages for malicious prosecution.
