Judge J B A Robertson, a Democrat candidate for governor, is in the city and will address the public at the court house this evening. The News predicts a good audience and notes his reputation as a distinguished district judge and capable orator admired by many, especially women.
Senator Gore introduces a bill in Congress asking for 750000 to reimburse the Choctaw and Chickasaw nations for costs tied to citizenship court actions. He notes treaties require allotment and enrollment without cost to the tribes and cites Mansfeld, McMurray and Cornish fee issues.
A local shop proclaims readiness for straw hats and invites customers to inspect the widest assortment in town, urging visitors to come in and view the extensive stock from sizes 61 to 84.
General Estrada, provisional Nicaragua leader, is pleased by March peace proposals that would set US mediation, designate a provisional president, convoke elections, recognize the revolutionary debt, and improve soldier pensions. Tulsa June 4 The Oklahoma Dental Association adopts a resolution urging the state health board to require dental care in schools. Defective teeth are linked to spread of contagious diseases due to widespread kissing behavior. The note highlights public health concerns raised at the association meeting.
Jefferson City June 5 A fully equipped counterfeiting operation active in the state penitentiary for twenty years was uncovered with help from government Inspector Edward J McHugh. Molds fire pots spurious coins and paraphernalia were seized and two prisoners arrested. They confessed making counterfeit half dollars quarters and 5c pieces. The plant reportedly passed down prisoner to prisoner amid a cellmate dispute over spoils. Gov Hadley said he will pardon the two in October before federal court proceedings.
Harrison Porter residing about three miles south of town was arrested in Ada this morning on a charge of criminally assaulting his thirteen year old step daughter over six months ago. He was brought before Justice Brown and committed to jail without bond. Porter, reputed as a bad Indian, had previously served a term in the penitentiary for murder. W. B. Adair and Chas. Brody made the arrest this morning with no difficulty.
