Authentic Scotch Outfit Wins Norman Sinclair Prize

A seven year old Norman Sinclair of Willow Stowen won the Norman Sinclair prize for an authentic Scotch outfit worn by a boy 75 years ago. Free theatre tickets were given to those in Scottish costumes, and Miss Elma Bruce from near Edinburgh received extra tickets for wearing her Stewart tartan skirt. The event featured a Scotch styled theatre foyer.

Youth Escapee Captured Near Guelph Reformatory

Tom Lazenby and Bob Larendy detained a 16 year old Toronto boy James MacKay and his Woodstock companion James Tesker after they fled from Guelph Reformatory last Saturday night. MacKay was found in the yard wearing inmate garb and kept warm at Acton home until police arrived.

Present Awards At Rally Day Service

The annual Wally Day Service at the Kinoa Chon Koon Sun avmorning featured Sunday School children in the church auditorium. Superintendent Clarence Coles presented awards to the children, and Rev Wot McElwain from Nova Scotia delivered the sermon with the theme I will build my church. In the evening L Sutherland of Know College Toronto led the service while Rev Roy Armstrong conducted anniversary services at Nassagaweva Church earlier in the day.

Kenneth A Mackenzie Dies Suddenly In Acton

Kenneth Alexander Mackenzie 42 or 40 years old died after sudden illness Tuesday while living in Acton. He served in the Royal Air Force during World War II and managed the Acton lumber and coal business. Survived by wife Lois Aikens, two children Jack and Margaret, his mother Mrs Joe Mackenzie, one brother Sam and two sisters Jean and Margery. Funeral held at Victor B Rumiley Funeral Home with interment at Fairview Cemetery.

Children and parents ride the merry go round on a pleasant day at the Milton fair. Miss Sharon White from Hespeler and her father Elmer White share a carriage ride as the crowd enjoys pony rides, taffy and apples. Local kids like Brian and Bruce MecDuffe display holiday spirit and skill on the ride while Johnny Creighton performs on his first attempt. The day features pie eating contests and the crowd leaves with happy faces despite the chilly air.

Mrs Chester Plank Dies in Rockwood

Mrs Chester Plank dies suddenly in Rockwood after a period of ill health. The funeral was held at her home with Rev. Chas Gower and Rev. John W. Oliver officiating. Many relatives and friends attended from Hamilton, Brantford, Barrie, Waterloo and other cities. Interment was in Rockwood Cemetery and the community sent condolences to her husband and three daughters, one brother, and several relatives.
