W M S Meeting Focuses on Japanese Culture and Japan
The September meeting of the Woman's Montonery Society of the United Church was held at Mia Mo Burns home with president Mias M Hennet presiding. Mrs Thomson group led a talk on destruction and chaos in Japan assisted by several members. A smart Japanese lady in an embroidered gown was shown by Mr Veldhuis, followed by a speech on flower arranging. The Mizpah benediction closed the gathering and lunch was served by Mrs Purvis and others. Cards were sent to the sick, and invitations went out for a bankoffering meeting in October. Row Pickersgill led the ceremony as crowds from Nassaghweya and nearby towns attended, with June Evans at the console and the Fabenezer mixed choir providing hymns. The service marked the annual anniversary not held this year, and the minister urged youths to keep the church morally and spiritually at the forefront of humanity affairs.

Mrs Morrison aged 85 died at her home in Acton Ontario with Rev Armstrong officiating. Interment followed at Fareview Cemetery. She was born in St Justine de Newton Quebec and lived in Dalhousie Mills before moving to Acton in 1921. She celebrated 60th wedding anniversary in 194? and leaves two daughters Christine in Toronto and Margaret at home, one son Stanley, a granddaughter Margaret Rose, and several relatives.
