Acton Minor Sports faces possible shutdown after meeting
Over 1,000 parents were informed of a meeting on September 5 to elect a new executive for Acton Legion Minor Sports Association. Only five people attended plus last year’s board, leaving plans to continue the program in doubt while equipment valued above 1,000 dollars and trophies over 500 dollars may be unused.

Trio Escapes Serious Injuries In Brock Street Crash
An Acton trio narrowly avoided serious injuries when their car left Brock Street, struck a hydro pole, plunged down a steep embankment and halted near tannery creek. Driver Ken McKinnon suffered a gash and chest bruise. Mrs Del Jordan dislocated ankle and torn ligaments. another passenger, Mrs McKinnon, had several teeth knocked out but was not hospitalized.

Zone Commander Mrs W Findley Praised At Legion Auxiliary Rally
Zone BT leader Mrs W Findley Acton received strong praise at the 29th annual Windsor convention as her nine auxiliaries with 585 members raised 34361 99 for the Legion s bursary fund. The zone ranked second to a larger group that raised about 40000, with Zone B7 topping donations. The gathering opened with remarks from provincial president Mrs M Richardson and Windsor mayor Michael J Patrick, while Lt Dutfield and Mrs J Thomkins reported on finances and progress. A social evening and banquet followed a parade noted as the largest and most beautiful in 29 conventions.

Halton County Council narrowly approves an Esquesing Township site for the proposed county administration building after heated debate. The purchase at 2,500 dollars an acre totals about 25,000 dollars for land at Ontario Street and Base Line, with a 15 to 12 recorded vote.

Death by Accident Jury Finds Inquest Verdict
A coroner's inquest in Acton returned a verdict that death of Hodge Hodgson occurred by accident after he lay between rails at the Main Street crossing July 10. Witnesses testified the westbound train struck him at about 48 mph and that the object appeared motionless. The jury's decision followed evidence from engineer H J Taylor and review of police statements.

Acton Fall Fun Draws 5 000 at 1906 Fair
In clear autumn weather about 5 000 people attended the Acton Fall Part on Saturday. TheAgricultural Souls staged a large display of cattle poultry and commercial exhibits with a stage show replacing the horse program. Prizes were awarded in Aberdeen Angus cattle sheep hog and cattle classes and a parade and child competitions highlighted the event.
