At Acton regular meeting the P U C faced pressure from Lakeview and Glenlea developers for rapid hydro service. The commission again declared no guaranteed completion dates and said it would install services as quickly as possible, avoiding construction schedule commitments. Also reviewed were installation procedures for 66 lots from Glenlea, purchased by Bradley and Houghton. Bell Telephone Company notified of liability for repairing an underground cable damaged during hydrant work, and joint-use pole arrangements were discussed. A $223.53 waterworks energy surplus was ordered to be paid to the waterworks account.

Two Young Men Injured in Main and Brock Crash
Early Saturday a car left the road at Main and Brock Streets and rolled over into a telephone pole. Driver Alfred Turner of Erin sustained serious head injuries and was hospitalized. Passenger D Perkins of Acton suffered head cuts and leg injuries. The wrecked car belonged to Turner’s father and pole damage was about 300 dollars.

Power Shovel Scoops At School Creek Bed

The Acton Free Press arrived Wednesday with the 17 inch Charles Clark cup as Canada’s best all round weekly newspaper in its class. The cup has worn 20 years and now sits in the front window. Judges compared 58 papers. Cobourg World first received the award in 1934.
