Police Court Cases Heard in Milton Yesterday Afternoon
Six cases were heard before Police Magistrate Langdon in Milton yesterday afternoon. John A. Skeans of Guelph was fined $25 and costs for speeding on Highway No. 7. Harold Williams Jr. and John Ford, previously convicted of armed robbery, were remanded for a week and ordered to undergo a mental examination. Harold Dickle, recently convicted of armed robbery, received 11 months definite and 2 months indefinite, plus five lashes one month after confinement. Williams and Ford were remanded on charges of breaking, entering and theft at a Mitchell shop. A charge of reckless driving against Gordon Hilton was dismissed. Warry Flurron, a passenger, testified, leaving some doubt about the charge. Arnold Scott of Oakville, charged with gross indecency, elected trial by Higher Court and consented to committal without preliminary hearing.

The Acton Pub- Me Utilities Commission met Monday with Commissioners Hansen and MacDonald presiding. They discussed truck quotations from Dodge Fargo and Ford for half and three-quarter ton models, left the purchase for further review, checked arrears, and instructed payment of various accounts including Bell Telephone and Hydro. A letter was to be sent to the I E P C of Ontario requesting revision of the rural power road project as the commission feels they are helping to carry it.

War Service League reports over $13,000 receipts in three years
Acton and Vicinity War Service League has administered about 13,395 dollars in three years. Treasurer J M MacDonald announced the sum at a fortnightly meeting. They plan to mend Christmas parcels for 215 in Acton and District, costing over 1,000 dollars. A community auction sale is to be discussed next. Three more names were aided to the overdrafts, and no prisoners of war were reported. July salvage brought in 81.72. Luke wide Chapter of the LODE donated 142 dollars and the Victory Club Bingo yielded 1 in. Joan McCrave reported 1.58 from a whale.

Interesting Films Shown At Dublin Literary Society
The Dublin Literary Society met in the Schoolhouse with the National Film Board. Jove Haskell of the Extension Department of the OAC introduced the film sequence including two sing song reels a nature film about turtles and a feature on the Alaskan Highway. The annual meeting was set for Friday October 5th. Mr Cutts sang a solo and a community singing session followed lunch and social time.
