New Steel Flume From Fairy Lake To Local Tanneries
Workmoon workers install a welded steel flume from Fairy Lake to Boardmore and Co plant, replacing an aging rivetted pipe in the creek bed. Sections about thirty feet long lie in the stream while the old pipe remains usable. Residents recall a wooden flume near the mill, which carried water for power, but the mill has not used water power for twenty five years. Electric and diesel power now supply energy.

Acton Council Discusses Fire Alarm Plan and Costs
Council heard plans and estimates for a new fire alarm system in Acton. Councillors reviewed finances and agreed to study the proposal further while considering building changes and community financing needs.
Cases Heard at Milton Police Court Yesterday Afternoon
Police Magistrate Langdon presided over several Milton cases. Arnold Scott of Oakville was remanded on gross indecency charges. Harold Williams Jr, John Ford and Harold Dickle of Welland were remanded for sentence on armed robbery dated September 2. Dicklewan was seized in Welland with others in Trenton. all have prior records. Gordon Bilton faces charges for careless driving from January 21 1944 after a collision that injured Thomas McKerr, requiring six and a half months in hospital. remanded to September 20 for witness access.

Lakeside O D E Members Vote Gift for Overseas Boxes
