Thieves made off with clothing boots tobacco and other items valued at £400 from E H Barnhill’s Norval store early Saturday. The robbers forced entry and are believed responsible for a similar theft at Albert Lambe’s Meadowvale store.
Acton council discussed fire service outside the town limits to save property, while keeping town protection. They reviewed accounts from McDonald and others, considered rebates for the Sewelson Shoe Company, and planned streetlight and water issues on Scene Street and district premises.
Acton Fair drew thousands for two days of events in 1935 with record arena crowds and strong exhibits. Kings of the All acrobatics troupe impressed, while contests in speed, jumping, and potato racing entertained. prizes awarded to Arthur Clarke Dowling and W. Collier among others as Parade and speeches marked a bustling community fair.
The September Halton County Council session at Milton Court House reviewed last minutes, approved committee reports, and discussed Mothers Allowance nominations before November 15. It endorsed museum funding via the Men’s Institute and approved hospital and printing accounts, with education and highway actions also recorded.
Mr Blankey Cripps was elected president of the Eastern District of the Guelph A Y P A at the annual district picnic held in Belfountain park. The system lists injuries at work, car crash victims, and a Liberal-Progressive social in Milton with multiple local figures and places.
