Acton Utilities Commission Setstle Damages and approves payments
At the monthly Utilities Commission meeting Commissioner O Hansen and Reeve J H Harrison presided. A settlement release for a truck collision damages was signed by the Chairman. The commission expressed regret for the illness of Chairman B G Arnold and sent wishes for his speedy recovery. Conserv ative Picnic Draws Big Turnout in Georgetown
The first annual Conservative picnic at Georgetown drew splendid attendance with sports, dances, speeches, and softball. Prizes went to large Conservative families led by Henry Shephard and Mrs William Wiley, oldest participant William Gillman, and oldest Conservative lady Mrs Dan Campbell. Bridge Worker Falls to Death on Oakville Project
W R Johnston of Hamilton was instantly killed at 10 a m yesterday after plunging 50 feet from a scaffold on the Middle Road bridge over Sixteen Mile Creek north of Oakville. He was a stripper employed by Vernon Construction Co on the west bank pier. Fellow worker Cacll Taylor, who stood on a boat, said Johnston lost his hold and they swayed outward before the fall. Coroner Dr J uf Stead ordered an inquest.

Five Hundred Take Part in Legion Zone Parade Acton
Five hundred Legionnaires from Zone 13 and other centres paraded from the Park in Acton to Knox Church for a service at Knox Church. The Lorne Rifles Band and Acton Citizens’ Hand provided music and wreaths were placed at the Soldiers’ Monument. Zone Commander J. M. McDonald led ceremonies with Rev. H. L. Barn Destroyed by Lightning Near Oepringe
A barn on John Akitt’s farm near Oepringe was struck by lightning in a thunderstorm about four o’clock and destroyed by fire. The blaze spread quickly, consuming an entire season’s crop with no estimated loss yet. Neighbors and household members watched the flames, keeping the house safe as the fire subsided. The storm was brief but unusually severe.

Golden wedding marks Lepage family milestone in Acton
