Cedar Springs Camp and Dakota's Powder Mill Tragedy
Halton pages recount Dakota and Cedar Springs history from a Twelve Mile Creek grist mill to a 1884 powder plant explosion. Thomas Simpson and wife helped settle the area, built the first kirk, and were buried in St Pauls yard. The 1920s onward saw W D Flatt create cabins and a community club turning the site into Cedar Springs with recreation, forestry efforts, and gates memorializing Mr Flatt.

Halton Fire Aid System Model Moves Across Ontario
Halton County leads Ontario with a mutual fire aid plan now in operation in three Southern Ontario counties. The integrated defense pools equipment across nine stations and links all depots by phone. Expansion plans include radio links and broader provincial adoption to cut response times and costs. Local suburbs face higher per hour vehicle charges and limited resources compared to Toronto.
