Rockwood Horticultural Society held its annual exhibition in the Town Hall on Saturday August 20. A gladfoll display from Mr. Wm Harris led to a Red Cross fundraiser with proceeds aiding relief. Longtime members, including Mrs E Nickell and Mr Arthur Bolton, were praised for continued service. Judge W W Simpson of Guelph commended the society. Milas Helton Bayne reported on a Toronto convention trip. Prize winners across multiple classes were announced, with many residents earning top placings.

Disturbance in Acton Restaurant Leads to Fine and Bond
Robert Campbell Brooks was fined 10 plus costs in Police Court for intoxication and disturbance at the Royal Cafe. Magistrate W N Robinson presided. Brooks also bound not to visit the Royal Cafe for a year after pleading guilty. Chief Harrop filed the information. Playground Group Holds Picnic at Acton Park
Sixty five children joined the Playground Class picnic sponsored by Acton Y's Men's Club last Thursday afternoon. Rain forced a transfer into the Arena but did not dampen the event. Prize winners announced for ages 1–5, 6–9, and 10–11 include Carol Tyler Jacqueline Chen Adele Chen Maureen O’Rourke Fred Kenther and others in shoe kicking wheelbarrow and pie plate races. Lunch was highlighted by contributions from Mrs. J A Cameron Mrs H Helwig Mrs E S Force Mrs Chas Kirkness Mr Geo Mason and Mr E S Force for their cooperation in the successful outing.
