Regular L O D E meeting at Mrs Wm Cooper home on Tuesday November 3 at eight o'clock outlines church services and social events. Obituary of Mrs John Thompson of Erin and Ballinafad

Mrs John Thompson of Erin died after a paralytic illness. She was 69 and widow of John Thompson. Funeral was in Guelph conducted by Rev Roy Frid, then Ballinafad United Church service by Rev N Waddell. Interment in Ballinafad cemetery. Survived by George Thompson, Mrs John McEachern, and Mrs A B McLean. Pallbearers were former neighbors.

Band’s Halloween Parade Planned for Evening

The Band sponsors a Halloween parade starting at 7:15 pm from the Band Hall. A marshal will lead the procession with masqueraders walking in twos and fours. Judges will award prizes for best costumes on Main Street between the Government Building and the Hydro Shop. Citizens are urged to decorum and avoid crowding contestants.

Farewell Night For Mr and Mrs McEnery In Esquesing

About 150 neighbors gathered at lot 32 Esquesing last Friday to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs David McEnery before moving to Acton. A musical program and address honored them as loyal Ballinafad Church members with arm chairs presented as mementos.

Acton Citizens Band Elects Officers for 1925 26

The annual meeting at the Band Hall elected A Mason as Bandmaster and G A Dills as President for 1925 26. Officers spoke brief words urging cooperation as a banquet followed the business session. The Band reported a healthy surplus of 234 and one of its best years yet with many musical activities and community support.

Miss Ettie Dins and several others returned home for the weekend from Toronto and Guelph. Locals hosted visitors from Georgetown to Dundas, with weddings, anniversaries, travel, and hospital news reported. Roy Johnston finished a 3000 mile motor trip before praising Ontario as home.

Fortieth Wedding Anniversary Celebrated in Nassa Gaweya

Mr and Mrs Jon Mershall celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary in Nassa Gaweya with family and neighbors in attendance. Elnora Rudd presented congratulations. Marion Anderson gave ruby pin to Mrs Marshall and fountain pen to Mr Marshall. Neighbors gifted ruby ring and ruby tie pin. Mr Marshall noted family unity and changes over 40 years. The couple’s longtime ties to Nagsagaweya township were noted.

Wheat yield tops prior Ontario record at Vaughan Township

The 65 bushels per acre wheat yield on 19 acres grown by Robert Watson in Vaughan Township York County yields about $1,500 at current prices. The local paper notes voting procedures, polling places, and a wedding at Acton Parsonage with Eva May Kennedy marrying John Edwin Kennedy of Detroit. Retires After 52 Years in Leather Business

Peter A. Smith of Acton resigns after a 52 year career in tanning. He managed Meassra Beardmore & Co. at Brace Bridge, then the Acton tannery for 12 years. He helped advance oak and hemlock leather production, served as Bracebridge mayor, and acts as Hon. President of Acton Chamber of Commerce. His resignation takes effect next spring.
