Acton Chamber of Commerce opened its 1955 56 season with a lengthy business agenda. Lou Buckley urged district cooperation with town services and other groups to meet civic and industrial needs. A survey of local merchants on store hours was discussed as nominating committee was appointed for new officers. Fred Wright proposed a Horticultural Society and town signs project was assigned to Roy Goodwin and Theron Jones. Ted Tyler Jr will head the Christmas decorations committee.

The Model Railway Club of Acton visited the Toronto Metropolitan Club last Saturday where trains run in a large Union Station room. Next Saturday the father and sons of the Acton group will meet with the Hamilton Model Railroad Club at the Hamilton Y to organize a joint venture.

Bigger Hobby Show Planned by Royal Star Gra-Y Club

Bishop's Gray Y club from Acton visited Kitchener for a floor hockey match and won 2 0 with goals by Peter Newton and Bill Churchill. A propane gas truck from Toronto left the road near Eden Mills causing a damaged fence. driver Cliff Lewis was unhurt.

Georgetown youth fined for careless driving with license suspension
In a Wednesday magistrate sitting a Georgetown youth was fined 100 dollars plus costs for careless driving and had his license suspended for six months. A speeding charge was dismissed. Four other minor traffic charges resulted in total fines of 26 dollars and costs. Two additional minor traffic charges were remanded.

Four Accidents and One Prank Theft Reported
Police in this district logged four auto crashes and one theft over the past week. Georgetown youths were injured when a car veered and rolled near Acton, while another collision on No 7 Highway east of Acton sent three men to hospital. A further crash on No 7 Highway caused $100 damage. A Haltonville intersection smash damaged 192 vehicles, and a stolen old red horse carriage from Glen Williams was linked to Halloween pranksters. A deer fatality occurred five miles south on No 25 Highway with a Toronto driver at the wheel.
