Acton Baptist Church held its 97th anniversary last Sunday with combined Georgetown and Acton choirs. Rev J C Williamson of Preston spoke at morning on the unchangeableness of God from Psalm 90 and Hebrews 13, and at evening on the fact of faith from Luke 7.23. The event united United and Presbyterian churches in the evening. offerings were collected to support the cause.

Mr and Mrs John Marshall celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in Eden Mills Ontario with family gathering at Guelph and Corwhin homes. The couple lifelong Nassagaweya and Eramosa residents, both in excellent health, were married in Eramosa Township near Barrie Hill by Rev MacKay. Mrs Marshall, born in Eramosa, is active in Eden Mills Women’s Institute. Mr Marshall, 87, former Nassagaweya Township clerk, lifelong Liberal supporter. They have four children nine grandchildren and one great grandchild, and are the last surviving members of their families.

Wm Halliday of Halliday Son Toronto has purchased the frame store and land on Mill Street between A B Mclean’s barbershop and E J Hassard’s drug stores. The site formerly belonged to J E Pearen. Construction begins immediately on a solid brick or cement one story building occupying over 22 feet of frontage and 53 feet in length. The project represents the last frame front on Mill Street business buildings. The structure will stand near the old post office site once used by Acton and later by Tax Paros.
