Halton Ploughing Matches From 1871 to County Rise
The Halton Mouldboard Association now runs the sole annual Halton County ploughing match. The first county event occurred in 1881 after township matches earlier. Trafalgar township held a 1871 ploughing event on Samuel Anderson’s farm with twelve competitors and prizes for three classes. The article recalls prize winners, early judges, and historic plough types while noting ongoing countywide competition and memories of Jarvis and Featherston.
