The Acton United Church delivers a Sunday program with ministers and speakers. Rev. R E Zimmerman leads morning worship at Willow Street, Miss Sadie Bowes presides over a Hamilton Presbyterial session, and a Sabbath school session is followed by a sermon on Ferguson's Policy. A Thursday 7:30 pm prayer service is scheduled.

The Knox Church celebrated its eighty first anniversary with morning and evening services. Rev. A C Stewart led, with Rev. W J Baxter and Rev R E Zimmerman assisting. Special music featured solos, quartets, and an anthem. The sermon focused on building the house of God and living stones in the temple, urging preparation and service. A generous Thanksgiving offering was given.
John R Kennedy located the grave of Margaret J Rain wife of Rev John McLachlan in the Old Cemetery. The headstone lies vandalized and prostrate with vines overgrowth but the inscription is now clearly legible, revealing the couple’s burial details and plot position. Mrs McLachlan has been informed.
Ontario politics shake as Hon. W F Nickell KC resigns the attorney general post amid a heated clash over the liquor policy and government control. Premier Ferguson accepts the resignation and appoints W H Price KC as his successor, praising Nickell as a capable, conscientious attorney general.
Judge Stubbs refuses appeal and doubles fine for Temperance Act breach with a $1000 maximum. Sam Sorbara loses appeal, jailed after Ontario Temperance Act conviction and police-ordered custody. Klan organizer Joseph Bollons bound over to keep peace with $2000 securities. Geoffrey Emerson fined for driving past stop sign. Erin Township youths plead guilty to Sunday shooting, fined and guns confiscated.
A party of about a dozen Royal City Lodge Sons of England members visited Woodgreen Lodge Acton on a Friday evening in November 1873 to assist in installing officers and to compete for the district cup in indoor games. After installation, a two hour program of cribbage euchre district whist and social songs followed, with Royal City Lodge declared the overall winners and refreshments served by Acton brethren before returning to Guelph thanking Woodgreen for hospitality.
Reverend Dr McTavish, secretary of the Presbyterian Synod of Toronto and King Ashton, is critically ill at Balleville Bellaville Ontario after a paralytic stroke. Reports say he has long been a prominent figure in church circles and received last rites as a step toward recovery. Born at Nassegaweya, he is connected with Knox Church Toronto where the synod meets this week.

The council approved William Cooper selling a part corner lot at Mill and Main for 1000 to allow a rounded corner for a new pavement. Cooper will move the building, facilitating a true circle arc starting two feet from each street corner. The improved curb, cement pavement, and wider space will enhance safety and town appearance.
Benjamin Tolton, a longtime Guelph resident born February 2 1850, died of a heart attack near the post office after a Friday conversation. Surviving are widow Margaret Yeates and sons Philip, Wilfrid, and Bertram. Tolton Bros. Limited connects to his family. Also, Mrs Crewson McLaughlin of Main Street died suddenly after a health decline, widow of Joseph Cripps’s era and mother of Fred, with services at Knox Church and burial at Fairview Cemetery.
A Tuesday night program at Knox Church featured a lineup of skilled out‑cable artistes. Selections included quartets, organ pieces, violin solos, and a bewitching array of vocal numbers from performers listed with Fergus and Guelph connections, ending with generous contributions from the audience and praise for the performers’ charm.
The Ontario government dissolves the 46th Legislature and orders a general election for December 1 with nominations on November 20. Premier Ferguson outlines a manifesto promising temperance reform, liquor controls, and municipal policy changes including card licenses for liquor, elimination of doctors' scrips, jail for illegal alcohol vendors, annual permits for buyers, and tax reductions in amusement and road policies.
The Women's Missionary Society of Knox Church held its annual thank offering meeting with a large attendance including United and Baptist members. Mrs. W. P. Gamble of Guelph delivered an inspiring talk on missions, highlighting opportunities for service and sharing facts and anecdotes to motivate greater involvement. A special Chamber meeting discussed progress on the new rest room and pledged funds from the Council and local societies. McDonald reported $100 promised for maintenance, with Women’s Institute and W C T U each adding $25. A later meeting will elect officers and gather operating details from other towns. Rev Stewart thanked the chamber for Scout support. The group backed widening Mill and Main Street for a semi circle corner and approved necessary expenditures.
The report from the Department of Agriculture in Toronto lists 1926 field potato judging results for fourteen entries. Winners include Arthur Griffin Erin and Peter Hiltz with prizes 20 and 15 dollars. other awarded names include Veh Swackhamer Brin Reid Bros Nassagawoya and Laeslie Pearen with prizes from 4 to 10 dollars.
