Mrs. Neilson Stark known as the egg lady in Georgetown has retired after 38 years of delivering eggs to customers. She recalls delivering up to eight hundred dozen eggs weekly, built a loyal following without canvassing, and enjoyed meeting neighbours who became friends as new subdivisions developed.
About 40 youths attended a young men’s convention at Melville United Church where a former army chaplain urged pride in church ties and Rev. W. A. Young spoke on church stability amid modern stress. He emphasized the need for men of good character now more than ever.
The Wellington County Museum at Elora closed its 1908 season with more visitors from across Ontario and distant places like Baie Comeau Jamaica California England Holland and Japan. Director Mrs. Lloyd Dobbertsen notes European guests favor pioneer household items and trade tools while a Fenian raid era bugle from Capt. John Beattie marks the Fergus Voluntary Rifle Company. Two local 10-year-olds are common visitors and enjoy the stereopticon views. space remains the main challenge as the county museum bursts at the seams.
Hillsburg defeated Glen Williams 4-2 in the sixth game of finals to claim the Tri County fastball title for the third time in four years under coach Don MacKenzie. The Burgs built a 3-2 series lead after previous wins and clinched the championship in Hillsburg despite a long season with league play and playoffs.
