Wedding Anniversary Celebrated at Church Street Home
Pritnda and neighbors gathered last Wednesday at the new Church Street home of Mr and Mrs George Fields to mark their twentieth wedding anniversary. About forty attended including Mrs Fields sister and brother in law Mr and Mrs Merchant of Toronto and Mr Merchant's sister Susan Merchant of Montreal. Gifts were exchanged, followed by card games and dancing with Limehouse Boys supplying music. A buffet lunch was served and the group sang They are jolly good fellows as the evening ended.

Erin Township Car Crash Claims Life of James Burns
A collision near the Erin Township corner of Ninth Concession and No 2 Avenue left James Burns aged 48 of Esquising Township dead in Guelph General Hospital. Elliott McDowell and Henry Burns were injured. McDowell was hospitalized with head injuries. Coroner Dr J P McKinnon attended. inquest pending. Provincial Constable P P Seibert investigated.

Accident on trestle near Guelph halts Toronto train
A Toronto bound holiday train narrowly averted disaster on a single track bridge over the river near Guelph. The engine derailed and the tender partly off the track, but all 10 coaches remained on the rails and no one was injured as passengers were jolted and stranded on the 80 foot-high trestle.
President of Borden Company Dies in Germany
Arthur W. Milburn, president of the Borden Company since 1917, died yesterday in Baden Baden Germany of pneumonia. Born in Haverstraw NY he joined Borden in 1894 after early work with Ansonia Clock Co. Survived by wife two daughters and a son Arthur M. A. Milburn.

In sodden fields at Fergus more than 100 ploughmen and one woman from four Ontario counties competed in the 24th Annual International Ploughing Match and machinery display. Routine Public Commission Meeting Routinely Conducted
The Acton Public United Commission met with Vice Chairman Kerr presiding and CM Hansen present. The Secretary was told to pay Hydro and Waterworks bills totaling 7947 and 58.55 for September and Spring power. Notices will inform the town Clerk of three families who left town with arrears to be placed on the tax. Bond purchases from the last meeting were confirmed. No Appointment for Clerkship Deferred Until the New Year
At Acton Council on Tuesday evening Councillors Mason Jones and Globons attended with Reeve PF McCutcheon presiding. The nineteenth report of the Finance Committee lists payments totaling 1 037.56 to various providers including J B Chalmers Prov Treasurer and local utilities. The report was adopted and a meeting with the Cemetery Board was scheduled. A Bell Telephone by law giving the Reeve authority to approve street work up to 100 was passed. Delinquent tax warrants were deferred to a future meeting to allow payment and avoid expenses. Coal and wood supplies for the pump house and Tos 4 Haut teaks were ordered along with driveway improvements on Brock Avenue. Tenders for re zoning of the price factory were opened. committee Mason Jones to compare prices with authority to award. The work was later awarded to W R Blair. HON Palmer resigned as Clerk and Treasurer. by law, C F Leatherland appointed pro tem and permanent appointment delayed until after the new council. An audit for interim accounts deemed unnecessary.

Eighteen months for forgery in Acton court
Richard Sharpe received an 18 month sentence in the Ontario Reformatory after pleading guilty to forgery. He already serves a similar term for another charge in Guelph, with both sentences to run concurrently. Sharpe forged an Acton plumber's signature on a $15 cheque to a local store, using the name George Grant.
