About a dozen men joined a painting bee at the arena on Sunday to paint seats. By afternoon all seats were painted with penalty box and central sections scarlet and the rest grey. Recreation director Jim Cas burn led the effort with firemen and Legionnaires among the helpers.
Three of four Harold Townsley family members have won a total of $250 in lucky draws. Acton firefighters run a monthly 50 prize draw. Karen Towns ley aged 10 has one win Julie aged 2 has two wins in two years. Milton firemen held a Santa Claus fair to raise funds for the Christmas party. Jeff Towns ley shared a 100 prize with a sibling.
Acton public school trustees wrestled with parking problems including restricted teacher parking on Acton Boulevard and near Rives Street to keep routes clear for emergency vehicles. They discussed leaky roofs, caretaker moves, library book setups, planting plans, and a seven year roof-rolling material guarantee from Tenaco Refiners Corp while budgeting repairs and a pay arrangement for a broken window incident.

Water pumped into two new Haltmithon reservoirs on Churchill Road this week as workers lowered into sand openings to clean tanks. After almost six months, Hydro workers and the commission remain at an impasse over a three year contract. A heated council session discussed lid repairs at the digester plant and a sick benefits package, with friction over a proposed 40 weekly benefit and insurance-based plans.
An inquest found that a harvest machine, a maclann, caused the farmer Wella Paredd death due to overconfidence and improper operation. Crown Attorney Peter Mio Walbaris and several local residents were named in the proceedings.
