Woman killed at Mill St crossing by CN rail train
Witnesses watched as 62 year old Elva Brydon of 14 Young St. was struck by a westbound CN Dayliner while crossing the Mill Street railway crossing at about 7:20 p.m. Her death at the scene prompted an autopsy and funeral arrangements. An Acton police investigation noted signals were flashing and the victim appeared to hesitate before entering the tracks.

Appoint new deputy clerk for Acton Town
At a special meeting Monday night the Acton council chose Grant Usher from 21 applicants to be deputy clerk treasurer, replacing the current Woodbridge deputy. Usher, who will start November 1, was interviewed by the No. 1 council committee. The council also authorized hiring Ron Mopdnight as extra office help. Mopdnight is an Acton native who recently completed a two year commercial course at Variety Village Vocational School in Scarborough.
