Esquesing township voters head to the polls Monday December 4 to elect a reeve three councillors and three school board members. Incumbent Reeve George Leslie faces Deputy Reeve George Currie while Councillor Tom Hill holds the deputy reeve post by acclamation. Four candidates seek the council seats and three for the school board include present members and newcomers.

Acton celebrated its centennial with a bronze plaque from Ontario presented to the Town by Premier Roberts and Minister James Auld. Mayor Les Duby showed the plaque, and council debated hanging it in the town offices foyer or the clerk's office for all to see.

Two constables are leaving the O P P detachment and a former constable returns. Constable F Chamberlain has left and gone home to Woodstock. Constable R Hildreth finishes tomorrow and moves to Timagami to join the Sherman iron mines office. He starts Dec 8. Nick Farion is expected to rejoin the Adtoh detachment after recovering from injuries.

The new municipal parking lot on United Church property will operate this week to ease Mill St parking for the Christmas shopping rush. Entrance on Mill St with exit on Elgin St. A sign and metal guardrails mark the entrance. Council approved the plan and arrangements with the United Church.

Two Car Collision on Mill Street Causes Injuries
A two car collision at the Mill and John Street corner at 12 15 a m Sunday sent six people to a doctor with cuts and bruises. Police say Allan Green’s 59 Ford and John Kersemans’ 61 Cadillac totaled 1600 dollars. Green had a bruised knee. Kersemans suffered head lacerations. others had minor injuries. All treated and released by Dr. T B Moore.

An Acton woman and her 15 month old daughter were injured in a single car crash on 27 Sideroad Esquesing. Helen Osborne 173 Perth St Acton drove into a ditch hit a tree and suffered head injuries lip lacerations and multiple teeth loss. Daughter Lynda Marie also sustained head injuries and forehead lacerations. Both treated at the scene by Dr. C A Thompson and admitted to Georgetown Hospital. OPP const Gary Corman investigated the half mile east of Seventh Line.

Pedestrians Hurt at Lights in Acton Collision
A weekend rash of accidents kept the Acton OPP busy. Nov 24 at 6:50 p.m. at Main and Mill Sts a vehicle owned by Evelyn Porty struck two pedestrians, Thomas Sheguin, 59, and Jessie Sheguin, 51, of Campbellville. The car, northbound on Main, turned right as the light greened, hitting pedestrians who had stopped and begun to move. Sheguin suffered a sore left shoulder while his wife sustained injuries to the left knee, right leg, and wrist. both were taken to Georgetown Hospital for X-rays.

Tragic fatality on First Line four youths die in crash
A 1938 Plymouth coupe carrying four 17 year olds collided with a loaded derailment car on a crossing eight miles west of Milton on the First Line Nassagaweya. The crash at 4 05 a m left Lorne Miller Jacobeus Ronald Boers Terrance Van Buskirk and John Newell dead. Funeral services were held in Milton Campbellville Kitchener and Acton for survivors. OPP called the crash the worst in years with speed estimated near 60 mph and the crossing lacking warning signals.

Town workers apply to certify as members of the Union of Public Employees. A hearing will be held at the Labor Relations Board in Toronto on Thursday morning.
