Esquesing Council met Tuesday and accepted tenders from Barclay Haulage and Mansell Nelles Construction for snow plowing township roads at ten dollars per hour with one hour standby, pending Highway Department approval. Barcley Haulage and Jennings Exe sand roads at five dollars per hour plus standby. The council asked the road superintendent to remove trees threatening a house at M Logan, agreed to share Ballinafad community hall deficits, and received a letter about elm trees on land expropriated for seventh line widening.

Icy roads blamed for three Acton accidents this week
Icy streets in Acton contributed to three collisions last week. On Saturday two crashes occurred at Mill Street and at Mill and Yonge Street with drivers Malcolm Kenneth Jones and Fred Lemon. A second crash near the Texaco garage involved Hazen R Webster and Donald Wesley Perry causing damages totaling about 350 dollars.

Warning issued after two cold cruiser incidents near YMCA
Police investigated two cases this week in which men attempted to lure young girls into rides or approaches. An 11 year old girl was approached in an old black car but refused. a second incident occurred with a man on foot near the YMCA. Parents were urged to warn children and report suspicious activity.
