Acton notes announce the annual Warden A Mason will host the dinner on Thursday December 17 at the Milton Inn. The item highlights the historic event and venue for local attendees.
publishers from Wentworth Peel and Yinston counties met at Oakville to organize the Wentworth Halton Peel Newspaper Association. E A Hasing and G H Harris led the Burlington Gazette contingent with many editors joining. A luncheon hosted by Mayor Moat followed, and officers were elected: President K A Harris, First VP Y N Leavens, Second VP C T Moore, Secretary-Treasurer G A Dilla.
In St Paul’s Uniting Church Milton delegates from Milian Burlington Oakville Georgetown Acton Hornby Bronte met November 21 22 to discuss county wide boys work. Leaders included Rev Wa Wumby Gordon Tapp and Gordon Lapp. An athletic committee formed and a hockey league was proposed.
The Girl Guides concert at Town Hall Inkt evening drew a large crowd with a varied programme led by Rov. PL A Sawyer and L. Th. The Highlights included a piano duet by Beth and Margaret Garrison and vocal pieces. Guides received awards presented by Mrs. C. H. Jurri son and others. Final numbers featured camp songs and community tunes. A future Christmas concert is planned for December.
The twenty third report of the Fine neo Comunities recommended payment of several accounts including towing rental and advertising. The annual grant to Acton Jalb Male was reduced to $150 per year with a condition. The Wall Fale shall pay $10 per year for Prospect Park from 1931, with conditions if the grant is not paid then the rental also ceases. Council addressed water shut offs on streets, broken pavement on Silver Street, and urged repairs by the Public Utilities Commission. Tax instalment penalties were discussed with a plan to allow two payments if the first is paid later. A Legion request regarding club room taxes was debated. An error in Thor Gibbons poles assessment was reviewed, and a report on Frederick Street trees considered. Sec for the Arena and painting plans discussed. Lorne school Concert set for December 16.

Mtr John Wilderspin, a Nell Telephone Co lineman near Aurora, fell thirty feet from an old pole when a wire broke. He suffered severe head and shoulder injuries and fractured ribs and organs. He died at 3 this morning after surgery earlier in the week. He leaves a daughter Erma. no widow. Community sympathy pours out.
The board discussed sympathy letters to Miki Harbour and a reply from Mia Harbour. It voted to appoint no Board representative to the ree Library body and to appoint Rev. P. A. Sawyer to the Fike Library Howrt. Reports covered power line changes, water meter status, and school arrival arrangements for cold weather. A letter urged principals to restrict interviews with teachers during hours and a Safety League commendation noted.
Reported results from the Royal Winter Fair include Acton entrants winning in stalls and foals with Dictator as a repeated name. A Brampton accident claims Joseph Trimble, 24, after a truck crash near Milton. several others injured as the vehicle left the road into a ditch.
